Gunter Thanks Those Who Helped to Shape Who He Is Today

This page is dedicated to the people who have touched my life in one way or another.

First, I want to thank my fans for believing in me and for making my personal American Dream come true. I also want to thank all of the bodybuilding fans -- without you, there would be no shows, no stage, no fun and no practitioners of this sport.

I want to thank my mother and father for giving me the genes to be a champion, and for being loving and caring throughout my childhood, which enables me today to give love and attention to my loved ones and my fans.

I want to thank Walter Klock for supporting me and giving me guidance throughout my amateur career. I want to thank you for what you have done for bodybuilding in Germany. I admire your passion for the things you do.

I want to thank Albert Buseck for his support in my 1994 Olympia preparation.

I thank Universal Nutrition, my first sponsor, for helping me through some tough times.

I want to thank Robert Raju, my first true friend in America. You were always there for me when I needed help.

I want to thank Joe Weider for his support and advice. Joe, meeting you was a big step forward in my career. Thank you for believing in my talent and for making bodybuilding what it is today. I know you don't have to work anymore, and that you do the things you do because you love this sport. Thank you for putting your heart into bodybuilding.

Thank you, Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazine. When I started bodybuilding, I learned from you, and now I am teaching through you. Thank you for giving me the publicity that has helped my career so much. Thank you for the opportunity to reach out and touch more people with my life and my sport. Thank you, Flex magazine, for giving hardcore bodybuilding the position of importance it holds today in the fitness world.

Thank you, Chris Lund, for being "the best" at what you do and for capturing the excitement of hardcore bodybuilding for the rest of the world to see.

I want to thank Ed Connors for persuading me to move to Los Angeles, and for encouraging me to pursue the American Dream.

I want to thank the Weider Nutrition Group for their support and their willingness to work together with us, the Weider athletes, to create better products. I also want to thank you for using pro bodybuilding to endorse your products.

Last but not least, I want to thank all the people who screwed and cheated me throughout my life. You have made me stronger and better in what I am doing. You made me appreciate even more the people who demonstrated the true meaning of loyalty and trust. You taught me the value of friendship. You taught me that trust has to be earned, not given. You taught me not to trust someone just because they go to church, because all of you did!

Sincerely Yours,

Gunter Schlierkamp
